In 2005, the sensational news out of Perry Bamonte and Roger O'Donnell, in for the third time Porl Thompson. No more keyboards, all the songs are performed with only guitar.
Always characterized by a certain duration, on this tour Robert Smith and 'managed to secure gigs for over three hours at night, and was probably only equaled by Springsteen.
The tour was to present a new album, unfortunately not finished in time, bringing the band to carry ladders on which they draw from each period.

29.02 @ Palalottomatica - Rome

4th Tour 2007/08, party late last year from Asia and Mexico, finally touches Italy February 29 at Palalottomatica in Rome.
E 'with bells Plainsong that the band takes the stage, followed by a Prayers for the intense rain and powerful. There 'a lot to Disintegration, are in fact performed Lullaby, Lovesong, Pictures of You "a sensational (finally rivelocizzata) and the title track.
Compared to the last tour, there is a definite return of individuals to alternate tracks more 'difficult'. It 'so sad and romantic songs are alternated as Unable To Wish Things to singoloni historians as The Walk, Just Like Heaven and Inbetween Days. But these cures like 'us' and the lineup is resolutely turned toward the harder guitar tracks. In the final part of the Main Set arriving in succession Us Or Them, Never Enough, Wrong Number, One Hundred Years and Disintegration. Following this half hour very intense, melancholic minimalism of At Night, before the first encore song, which comes to breath a bit 'to everyone. Also from Seventeen Seconds then follow M, Play for Today "(the part of the keyboard is now traditionally shouted by the audience) and A Forest, always greeted with a standing ovation.
Then came the pop again, that opens the dances. The Lovecats, Let's Go to Bed, Close to Me, Why Can not I Be You, parade one after the other with a Robert Smith who abandons his guitar and walk around the stage, letting go as no one saw him do for years . It 'definitely a good mood, talking and joking often with the audience, something unusual for him.
The final part of the concert is characterized from Old School encore, with only pieces of the very early period, when the Cure were only three imaginary boys. Boys Do not Cry, Jumping Someone Else's Train (live for the first time since 1980!) Continuing in Grinding Halt, 10.15 Saturday Night "and finally" Killing an Arab (Killing Another renamed for obvious reasons), very violent and very fast. It 'a final triumph.
Only flaw of this date Roman acoustics, really bad.

02.03 @ Palasharp - Milan

In Milan the Palasharp is presented with a lineup like that, but with the most welcome additions Kyoto Song, Catch and The Baby Screams. The acoustics are excellent and this time the band particularly concentrated, perhaps less than a good mood in Rome but this is probably just tired.
Also on this occasion are another 3 hours and 15 live, and complexity is another success.
The best moment of the concert is probably the shotgun from Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, with un'ipnotica If Only Tonight We Could Sleep The Kiss and devastating.
The ladder stretched unfortunately requires the shortening of Old School encore but Killing An Arab is even more violent than in Rome.

20:03 @ Wembley Arena - London

So here we are March 20 at Wembley Arena in London on the final European tour. Those who hoped for surprises or significant changes in relation to the Italian ladders shall remain disappointed. However the excellent acoustics of Wembley Arena and the perfect performance of the band did not disappoint. The old school encore has finally played in its entirety, compared to Rome are added Three Imaginary Boys and Fire in Cairo.
Three and a half hours of concert and despite the British public is proverbially chilly is another triumph.
Robert Smith's voice is disconcerting. Not only is still singing every night for more than three hours without a failure but even the vocal seems rejuvenated and power increased. The band obviously has never so much fun to play live.
Another exception to the warrant presented three new songs every night: The Only One (aka Please Project) is romantic and dreamy pop that reminds a lot of things Wish, A Boy I Never Knew is an acoustic ballad in which Robert Imagine the child ever had, finally, Freak Show, a short piece that penetrates the vein-funky pop of The Cure and so regularly performed in the pop encore.
Personally I was a little 'confused by these new songs, which although valuable, is too derive from ideas already heavily exploited in the past by the band. Nice but not exceptional, then. The new album will apparently still 26 tracks, some tracks more interesting and courageous lawful èpertanto expected.

A final consideration on the public to be Italian and English. Unfortunately, compared to past tours we see a continuing growth of people who assist property and seeds bored the songs more difficult and intense enthusiasm for returning to life and only with the most classic and popular songs. Individuals, in other words. Sorry because the band does not deserve it.
