13.06.2009 enablers, Beatpol, Dresden
By DC • Jun 19th, 2009 • Category: ReportsThe Enablers have a case. I saw them for the first time in Dresden 4 / 5 years ago and we were about 20 people, last week we were 40. Despite a record on Neurot, a former Swans on guitar there are certain groups who are not taking on people. Will be their anti-aesthetic, their simplicity and how to be "directed" to make them less desirable to the masses. But we know the masses and lead to deviate too often plays very much standardized and that comes from television critics. People following the mode not the music, so when there were few people the group is certainly valid. And tonight because we are at optimum levels.
Enablers of the first two groups are very supportive. The first is a duo, these Schnaak, guitar and drums. Musically various proposed a mix of extreme metal and some very upbeat, almost Caribbean. Proposed a type cabaret show with jokes etc ....
Immediately after their show, which lasted about an hour, it is the turn of Antikaroshi Berlin. Although I have seen these three times I am not convinced. The songs seem (or are) all equal, it seemed one great song. I think it is a problem of the voice, too "static". With them goes live concert because they "come out" as the last of the Enablers - Tundra, on Exile on Mainstream Records (distributed by Southern) labels a more active at European level. Not all groups are valid, in my opinion, but I like their politics ... that is always on tour (and prices policy, this type 5 euros).
A quick change and immediately the Enablers are on stage. Pete Simonelli's voice is more raw than usual, the recalls Nick Cave full of years ago, accompanied by guitars (there are 2 guitars on stage and down) very sharp and very obsessive. The songs are played and sung very, very bad stories of lives lived right on the limit of the real and the unreal with surprise endings.
Soon they shall see ...
